What is Aging in Place?

Aging in Place generally means the ability to stay in your own home, near family, friends, and your community, instead of moving to a residential facility. Many older adults would prefer to maintain their sense of home and independence that comes with Aging in Place. Aging in Place can also remove a lot of the stress and financial burden associated with living in an institutional facility.

Can I (or my family member) age safely in place?

It’s understandable to have concerns about your ability to safely navigate your home and perform daily activities as you age. Maintaining the independence of living at home requires thoughtful planning and often includes some modifications to mitigate potential fall hazards or other concerns in your home. BluStar will work directly with you to develop a comprehensive plan that ensures your ability to remain safe and comfortable in your own home for many years.

What is included in a BluStar Aging in Place/Home Safety Assessment?

Our Certified Senior Home Safety Specialist® will meet with you (and a family member or trusted friend) for a consultation on your specific goals and needs for Aging in Place. Once we understand your personal situation, we conduct a comprehensive assessment of your home. Our comprehensive report will identify any potential hazards, including things you may not be aware of, and will recommend solutions for ensuring your home is safe, comfortable, and accessible.

How much does it cost to assess my Home Safety and Aging in Place needs?

Our Home Safety Assessments range from $199-$399, depending on the size of your home. If you decide to work with BluStar for your home modification needs, we will credit the full cost of the assessment toward the cost of your home modification projects. And BluStar Home Safety Assessments are always free to veterans, whether or not you choose to hire us for home modification.
